Avoid A Collision, Fill Your Tires

The health and maintenance of the tires on your Toyota Corolla should be of utmost importance. Your tires are your first line of defense when traveling. Having worn or under inflated tires puts you at great risk of accident or injury. However, tire maintenance and care often falls by the wayside for the average car owner. Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for more specific recommendations for tire care.

For many it becomes a habit to check the state of their tires each time they fill up. For others, they leave all tire maintenance for the service technicians at their local Toyotadealer service center. Either way, it is important to regularly maintain your tires. As previously mentioned, tires which are under inflated can be dangerous to yourself and other drivers on the road. In addition, an under inflated tire will wear much quicker than a properly inflated tire. You will also use more gas when you travel on under inflated tires. In fact, it has been estimated by the Department of Transportation that 5 million gallons of fuel per day are wasted due to low tire pressure. That quickly adds up to a full 2 billion gallons per year. If we, as drivers, would commit to keeping our tires inflated we could drastically reduce on wasted fuel.

It may be helpful to get in the habit of keeping a properly working tire gauge in your Toyota Corolla at all times. That way it will be easily accessible at soon as you need it. Also, get in the habit of checking the pressure frequently. The air pressure in your tires will change with the differing weather conditions. Usually it is easier to hold tire pressure during the summer months. During the winter months you may find your filling your tires more frequently.
