Transmission Trouble Top 10

Image
1. Burning Smell – Transmission fluid not only keeps the parts moving freely, but it also keep the transmission itself from burning up.  If you are running low on transmission fluid, that burning smell will let you know. 2. Noisy Transmission In Neutral – A single “blump” noise while in neutral can indicate a simple problem like low fluid, but lots of noises can mean bigger issues.  This type of excessive noisiness usually means that a part needs to be replaced due to mechanical wear. 3. Slipping Gears – This one can be dangerous because having a vehicle slip out of gear while driving is scary.  If this happens to you, be sure to stay calm and get the vehicle in to a mechanic asap. 4. Dragging Clutch – This is one that only manual transmission drivers need to worry about and happens when the clutch “fails to disengage the clutch disk from the flywheel when the driver pushes in the clutch pedal.” (According to howstuffworks.com.) 5. Financing First

Image
If you are like the more than 80 percent of car buyers on the market you will probably be dependent on an outside financing company to make the purchase or lease. While outside borrowing may not be ideal, it does not have to break your bank. In fact, it should do just the opposite. It should fit just right into your personal budget. However, if you don’t take responsibility for the type of financing you end up with, you will probably be disappointed at some point before the loan is paid in full. Once you have your budget in line and know what you can afford, you can begin looking at vehicles within that price range. It won’t do you any good looking at vehicles outside of that price range, as this is where you can easily run into financial trouble. Get a good idea of which type of vehicle you would like. Poor Performance May Mean a New Battery is Needed

Toyota’s Stance On E15 Fuel

Image
E15 fuel is a source of fuel that is currently catching a lot of heat from people in the automotive industry.  It is a fuel source that consists of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.  The most common type of gasoline that is currently used is E10.  Supporters of this new fuel source believe it will help lower the cost of gasoline for consumers and it will help people become more independent in the energy category. Experts in the auto industry who do not believe in the benefits of this fuel argue that the added alcohol in the make-up will cause potential corrosion in the engine and through the major components of the vehicle, making the cost of repairs far more substantial than any savings at the pump could offset.  When you add the issues of car warranties being potentially invalid due to the use of fuel that isn’t recommended by the manufacturer of most vehicles, you may find it’s not the best choice for your vehicle. Toyota has commented on the fuel saying, “E15 fuel hasn’t

Ford Challenges Toyota

Image
When it comes to the auto industry, Toyota continues to lead the pack.  They appear on almost every “best-of” list known in the industry and they continue to surprise people by their creativity and innovation in the engineering of new cars.  To top it off, they consistently work hard to strive for environmental efforts and they always find great new ways to give back to the communities that keep Toyota on top.  It is no real surprise that other automakers would drive full-force ahead to try to beat out the competition.  In fact, it is this ambition by other automakers that helps Toyota to continue down the path of success and growth. Most recently, it was reported by autonews.com that Ford is coming after Toyota in the upcoming segment of electric vehicles.  Ford claims the new C-Max will top the best-selling Toyota Prius in both sales and mpg.  Toyota isn’t concerned as they have perfected the art of designing a great electric/hybrid vehicle.  While most manufacturers are in their i

Changing Fuses

Image
All cars are equipped with fuses. Without these fuses you would risk starting a fire at any given point while driving. In the event that amp load in a circuit exceeds the limit for that circuit the fuse would blow, rather than a fire starting. Fuses are an important mechanism to any vehicle, even a used Toyota car or truck MO. Circuits come on various limits. Some will be able to handle 20 to 30 amps while others will be built to withstand five to 15 amps. When the current in a circuit exceed the limit, the metal element within the fuse melts, and the fuse blows; this results in the current no longer being able to flow freely along that circuit. If you have a fuse which continuously blows for some reason, there may be something wrong along the circuit lines. It is important to only use fuses on certain circuit lines. Using a fuse designed for 20 amps on a circuit running only 10 amps a recipe for trouble. While a 20 amp fuse may sound like more than able to handle a 10 amp circuit it m

Maintain Whether New, Used or Certified

The demand for used vehicle remains high. At the same time dealerships are trying to restock their inventory of used cars. Those looking to trade in their used cars will likely earn top dollar for their trade in. However, those looking to buy a used or pre owned car may be looking at paying top dollar, simply due to the demand. It is actually a situation that presents a unique situation. Many buyers are able to pay less for a brand new version of the used car they were considering buying. This is why it is so important to remain open to both new and used car buying options. Whether you are looking to purchase a brand new car or a used car makes no difference. It is highly likely that you will be concerned with retaining the value of that car for an extended period of time. Most buyers are holding onto their cars far longer than they used to. Many believe it is becoming much more commonplace for a vehicle to reach 200, 000 than just 100, 000 when an owner decides to upgrade. Owners want
