Toyota’s Stance On E15 Fuel

E15 fuel is a source of fuel that is currently catching a lot of heat from people in the automotive industry.  It is a fuel source that consists of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.  The most common type of gasoline that is currently used is E10.  Supporters of this new fuel source believe it will help lower the cost of gasoline for consumers and it will help people become more independent in the energy category.

Experts in the auto industry who do not believe in the benefits of this fuel argue that the added alcohol in the make-up will cause potential corrosion in the engine and through the major components of the vehicle, making the cost of repairs far more substantial than any savings at the pump could offset.  When you add the issues of car warranties being potentially invalid due to the use of fuel that isn’t recommended by the manufacturer of most vehicles, you may find it’s not the best choice for your vehicle.

Toyota has commented on the fuel saying, “E15 fuel hasn’t been studied enough.” Specifically, Toyota does not believe the EPA had the right information to approve the fuel source and the testing performed was inadequate.  They are even working with other manufacturers to have the fuel banned. Your best bet is to follow your used Toyota cars St. Louis manufacturer guidelines until Toyota is able to gain full confidence that this fuel source is safe for your car.  Toyota puts their customers’ firsts and it is important to everyone invested in the company that you have the right information regarding what’s currently happening in the automotive industry.  Feel free to contact your local Weiss dealer for more information!
