Changing a Flat

The idea of a vehicle breakdown does not conjure feelings of joy and happiness. Typically an unforeseen vehicle breakdown or repair induces feelings of stress and frustration. The easiest way to combat and lessen the likelihood of occurrences is to be as prepared as possible. This includes having the knowledge and ability to change a flat tire. Because tires endure so much stress and wear under normal driving conditions, there is a good chance you will experience having a flat tire at some point during your time driving.

Tire ChangeIf you happen to get a flat tire while driving try to remain as calm as possible. Simply reduce your speed by letting off the gas pedal and slowly depressing the brake. Steer to the side of the road, to a safe position on the shoulder. Try to give yourself ample space to work on changing the flat tire. Most time all of the tools you will need to change a tire can be found in your vehicle. When you purchase a certified Toyota car or truck ask the salesperson to show you where the tire changing tools reside. You will need a jack, a spare tire and a tire iron.

Place the jack on a solid undercarriage surface. It needs to be placed solidly on the frame of the car. This will ensure a safe lift of the vehicle and little chance of the jack becoming dislodged and the vehicle falling. Simply remove the lugnuts and the flat tire of your certified Toyota. Replace the flat tire with the spare tire and affix the lugnuts. Lower the vehicle safely and be sure all lugnuts are completely tightened. Bring the flat tire of your certified Toyota to your local Toyota dealer for a replacement tire.
