Seniors and Driving

At Weiss Toyota, we value all of our drivers regardless of age, race, gender, etc.  It is important to us that everyone stays safe on the roads and has the tools they need to do so, on a regular basis.  That is why we don’t just write about the latest car you can purchase and what kind of great deals we have to offer.  We like to keep our readers well informed on current events and topics about the automotive industry, but also equipped with useful tools to keep them safe and happy in their new or used car or truck.  We have dedicated this article to senior drivers and highway safety.  With the help of dmv.org, we are providing several driving tips for you.

1. Be cautious or avoid all together nighttime driving.  The glare from others headlights and the reduced visibility can be not only difficult for people with less than perfect vision, but also very stressful which can be a distraction to driving in and of itself.
2. If you are feeling overwhelmed or inadequate to drive on the roads, take a refresher course!  Contact your local senior center or dmv to find out where one is being held and how you can get signed up.
3. Ask a friend or family member to help you learn how to properly use all of the features in your vehicle.

You can also spend some time looking over your manufacturer manual and practicing using the features when you aren’t actually driving down the road.  Toyota’s features are designed for comfort and ease and with a little practice could really add enjoyment and satisfaction to your time in your car.

Contact your certified Toyota St. Louis dealer today and we will be happy to get your car inspected for safety and help you understand your car’s features so you can drive safely to your next destination.
