Getting Pulled Over by the Police

Weiss Toyota Scion of South County
Everyone seems to have an opinion about what you can or cannot do to avoid getting pulled over by the cops while driving.  We have researched the question and have uncovered the best response from Edmunds.com.  We have summarized their findings here.

Speeding:  This one is pretty obvious.  You know the speed limit and if a cop is staked out on a road waiting for a traffic violator, they are probably first looking for those who are speeding.  I’m sure you have heard the old idea that you can go at least 7mph over the speed limit and not get pulled over right?  Well, Edmunds addressed this too and after surveying other cops they concluded that there is a buffer but the limit is the limit and it’s not a given that you won’t get a ticket for going slightly over the limit.

Illegal cell phone use:  Distracted driving is such a hot topic right now and it is becoming one of the leading causes of serious and fatal car accidents on the roads.  Most states have laws against the use of cell phones and cops WILL enforce violations of these laws.

Hazardous driving: This includes things like running stop signs/lights, following too closely, illegal U-turns and improper lane usage to name a few.  It is a red flag for suspicious behavior for police and you will get pulled over.

Equipment violations: Your car must be street-legal.  That means your tinted windows need to meet the state laws for required darkness levels (as one example).

You can be safe and drive comfortably with no need to break the law in new or used Toyota cars St. Louis. Visit your local Weiss dealer today to check out all our current specials.
