School Zone Safety

Most schools across the country started their first week of the new school year the 1st week of September and there is one thing that is for sure…driving in and out of a school for drop-off/pick-up can be a very frustrating situation.  Extra precautions should be taken to keep kids safe in school zones.

As you take your child to school and pick them up each day, consider taking these extra steps to keep other children safe.

St Louis Toyota Dealers1. Follow the rules set forth by your school for pick up and drop off procedures.  When you start taking short cuts because you think it saves you a few minutes, kids can get hurt.  The school has these rules in place because they are what have been proven to work the best for both drivers and pedestrians.

2. If you have to park rather than simply drop off in a circle drive, make sure to park in a designated school area, like a parking lot if possible.  If this is not possible, then park as close to the school as possible and walk your child up to the building utilizing the crosswalks and crossing guards to help get you across busy intersections safely.

3. Do not allow distractions to take your eyes from the road and never use cellular phones while in school zones.
